The End is near....

The firearm deer season is nearly over, and we have been busy!  Our week was booked at the cabin, we had some wonderful guests to "catch up" with.  It is wonderful the people we meet, and continue to host for several years.  So, we will post some photo's of some of the deer.  Some are pretty impressive!  All were just great hunting adventures!  Happy Hunting!

Crazy Horse Ride 2009

I am finally getting these posted! The ride was in June, and it was a beautiful day for a ride. They had about 100 riders, and lots of followers! I think that The High Country Ranch Ride(who sponsored the lunch along with several area merchants) fed around 225 people. It was a wonderful day!

It's the busy season...

Yep, things have been very busy around here! Everything is planted, and we see the bits of green rising through the ground in pretty rows. The cows are out to pasture, and so we humans are soooooo happy that the summer has begun! The hills and buttes are absolutely gorgeous with greenness and wildflowers are profuse this year. How amazing it is that normal-average rainfall can make such a difference! So, we are busy planning some Ranch Rides. Call us for more information.... it is sure to be a wonderful event! Have a wonderful day!

A note from our guests.

Mark & Myrna,

Well we made it home. Todd got good and wet chasing Turkeys in the rain the last day, but no joy. What a wonderful time we had. An incrediable Archery hunt. After chasing Turkeys for 30+ years in Missouri we thought we had seen some great hunting. Your ranch re-writres the book. With flocks of 250 birds, we felt surrounded most of the time!!!

Todd's brother Brent is chomping at the bit to come out and bring his son. He wanted to know if you had an opening for late May shotgun season this year. He is trying to talk me into coming back, he wouldn't have to twist my arm too much. You can bet we will be booking soon. I'll have your link added to my web site sometime next week. Your wonderful hosts and it was fun getting to know you.

Best Days Afield Always,

~Mike Fowler

This is the 3rd worst!

.....snowstorm/blizzard ever. That is according to Mark. He has seen quite a few, too. He said the Blizzard of '56 was the worst he's seen. Then the Blizzard of '88, was second (I remember that one!) We are not sure how much snow fell on the ranch, possible upwards of 15 inches. Now, thats quite a bit of work! All of the gates must be shoveled out, so that they can be opened to get to the cows to feed, and check water. I think that Mark was getting out the snowmobile yesterday, too! I am sure that he had a great time, too! As far as the calving, the cows are all in the corral, and they pretty much have to fend for themselves until we have a path shoveled to the barn! YIKES! That's too much work for two bad backs to do! We'll see what gets done.
Have a great day!

We love...

... old pickup trucks, and mud!
Calving is coming right along, and we have quite a few now.... not sure how many... Little black ones, black/white face ones, a couple of "cookie" ones, and a scarce few red ones! Such a wonderful sign of spring..... now we just need some lambs! But not until the latter part of May. Spring is in the air! Hooray!

It is here again!

Babies, babies everywhere! Yep, little black ones..... cute, furry, soft and so alive! Yep, it is calving season here at the ranch. So, it is late nights, early mornings and cow-checking at the wee hours. You are invited to come and help vaccinate, ear tag and brand every weekend! The more the merrier!
"Brrrrrrrr! It's too cold out to have a baby, Mama cows! Keep them in until better weather!"
